Shell Tube Heat Exchangers

The Shell Tube Heat Exchanger is the most common type of heat exchanger suitable for oil refineries and various other large chemical processes. It is suited for high pressure applications. It consists of a shell and a bundle of tubes placed inside it. One of the fluids flows through the tubes whereas the other fluid runs over the tubes to exchange heat between the two flowing fluids. It is also ideal for various cooling solutions such as cooling of oil and hydraulic fluids in engines, hydraulic power packs, etc. The Shell Tube Heat Exchanger is made using various heat exchanger tubes that are parallel to each other. These tubes are firmly held at their place with the help of tube sheets.
